MANHATTAN, Kan., October 13, 2014 — As librarians at Kansas State University Libraries have learned, when dealing with more than 3 million items, automation and assistance can be incredibly beneficial.

Fortunately, Backstage Library Works completed a Resource Description and Access (RDA) enrichment project for 3 million bibliographic records for Kansas State University Libraries during the summer of 2014. The company also supplied the corresponding authority records. K-State Libraries has been an authority control client since 2005.

“We are very pleased with the RDA enrichments and are delighted Backstage Library Works was able to work with us to complete the project in an accelerated fashion,” said Michelle Turvey-Welch, Head of Metadata and Preservation.

“Through the project, we were able to transform our records into RDA hybrids and modify our existing profiles to mirror base file changes. The project positions us well for the future as we prepare to move to a new integrated library system.”

Kansas State University Libraries advance the university’s teaching, research, and service with 3 million volumes and collection strengths in the subject areas of cookery, the consumer movement, military history, biosecurity, food safety, grain science and milling, prairie studies, and children’s literature.

Kansas State University is a land-grant, public research university offering over 250 majors and options.
