BCR Partners with Mosio to Bring Text a Librarian Service to Member Libraries

Aurora, CO, November 30, 2009 — BCR is partnering with Mosio, Inc., to bring its Text a Librarian service to BCR member libraries. Using mobile phone technology, patrons can text questions to reference services from their mobile phones and librarians can type answers on a web-based interface.

BCR and LITA Partner to Offer Continuing Education Opportunities

AURORA, COLO. — BCR and the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), have agreed to develop a reciprocal continuing education program to complement and expand the training opportunities for the members of both organizations.

The partnership will combine those areas in which each organization is expert to meet the growing need for libraries to offer new and innovative online continuing education courses while meeting the challenges of the rapidly changing library environment and shrinking budgets.

BCR Partners with North Dakota, Hawaii to Administer Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Opportunity Online Hardware Grants

Aurora, CO, July 27, 2009 — BCR is partnering with the North Dakota State Library and the Hawaii State Public Library System to administer the third and final round of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Opportunity Online Hardware Grants program. The grant program will help eligible public libraries in these states upgrade and add public computer workstations for patrons in communities with high concentrations of poverty and where a library’s public computers are at risk of becoming outdated with limited capacity for users.
